| Northern Greece is developing. OMONIA TRANS is participating.
Epirus, Western, Central and Eastern Macedonia, Thrace. Regions of Greece that in the past lagged significantly behind in development, today are gradually transforming into the Greek economy’s “tigers”. Northern Greece produces the country’s highest GDP after Attica with a rate of around 22%, while its entrepreneurship is characterized by particular extroversion thanks to its geographical advantages.
In this environment, the role of road freight transport is more than critical. This was exactly the topic of the conference recently co-organized in Thessaloniki by the Hellenic Federation of Road Transports (OFAE) and the Panhellenic Association of Freight Forwarders (PEED).
During the conference, Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas extended a welcome, and comprehensive goals for enhancing road and combined transport in Northern Greece were outlined. These objectives encompassed infrastructure enhancements, the establishment of freight centers, connectivity with ports and railways, as well as the digitization of customs procedures.
OMONIA TRANS, with many years of operation from Thessaloniki (with warehouses located at the 9th kilometer of the new ring road in Oreokastro), takes pride in actively participating and contributing to the development of the region. Our Thessaloniki office consistently expands its operations, clientele, and routes each year, and this positive trajectory is set to continue!

Financial assistance to the social kitchen “The Other Human”
As part of its commitment to societal contribution and support for people, especially those in vulnerable situations, OMONIA TRANS has established a broad network of initiatives in collaboration with various associations and organizations. Recently, our company extended financial support to the Social Kitchen organization known as “The Other Human”.
The Other Human is a social solidarity initiative that started in 2011 in Athens. The team of the Other Human cooks food in public places in the capital and in the rest of Greece, which it then offers absolutely free of charge to people in need.
To date, the cooks and volunteers of the Other Human have provided more than 12 million portions of food throughout Greece. As is easy to understand, the day-to-day, operating costs of this venture are significant. At OMONIA TRANS we are proud to financially support the Other Human, an organization that makes us believe in humankind! | | Finally paperless! E-CMR also in Greece
Over the past few years, one European country after another has transitioned into the era of digital consignment notes. The system, inaugurated in January 2017 (marking the first-ever border crossing with e-CMR between Spain and France), is a protocol that has been embraced by 34 countries, paving the way for the future.
Our nation has recently embarked on this journey, becoming the 35th country to embrace the digital edition of the United Nations Convention on the Transport of Goods (e-CMR). The advantages are numerous and significant, as the e-CMR protocol will empower the continually expanding Greek logistics sector to provide even more efficient services to both the domestic market and international destinations.
Some of the key benefits of e-CRM:
- Lower costs
- Faster management with reduced data entry, no paper handling, no faxing/scanning/letter exchanges, paper filing etc
- Faster billing
- Greater transparency
- Data accuracy
- Real-time access to information and proof of receipt and delivery.
