OMONIA TRANS, WE HANDLE - WE CARE
JANUARY 2024

Sun beam in the winter!

Welcome to the dawn of a new year! With heartfelt sincerity, we extend our best wishes for personal and corporate triumphs to each of our esteemed partners and clients. As far as OMONIA TRANS is concerned, 2024 is on the one hand a milestone year, as we complete 45 years of uninterrupted operation and continuous development, and on the other a year with particularly lofty goals. Let’s look at the most important of them.

Expansion of Lines and Services. Thirty European countries are not enough! In 2024, we envision reinforcement of the current markets, with multiple departures. Additionally, we commit to enhancing our already extensive array of services by incorporating more value-added offerings.

Further reducing our carbon footprint. Anticipate the integration of even more eco-friendly vehicles, including state-of-the-art electric options. Throughout 2024, our facilities will undergo transformations for heightened energy efficiency, coupled with a steadfast commitment to minimizing waste.

Investment in People. We will never tire of repeating it: We are a great company because our people are great! We reiterate our dedication to the ongoing training and development of our workforce. Through tailored programs, we aim to elevate their skills and knowledge. Simultaneously, our relentless pursuit of top talents in the market persists, fostering an environment where individuals can truly “shine”.

A very good year to everyone!

We cook for our fellow humans in need!

In November, as our newsletter readers may remember, we undertook a meaningful act of social responsibility that deeply touched our hearts. We threw our support behind the Social Kitchen organization “The Other Human”, an initiative dedicated to preparing and distributing free meals in Athens and throughout Greece to those in need.

This month, however, we elevated our engagement with “The Other Human” to a new level! Stepping away from the transportation plan , we donned our cooking aprons and immersed ourselves in the Social Kitchen environment, actively participating in both the cooking and serving processes. And we are thrilled to announce our commitment to repeating this experience in the future!

We remind you that the “The Other Human” Social Kitchen is a self-managed group, with a remarkable 13-year history of preparing and providing meals to those in need. Daily, they feed between 300 to 500 individuals, including 10% who are minors accompanied by their parents. Additionally, the initiative extends its support to numerous students in need.

Transports and environment. Fit for 55 is just around the corner.

The first month of 2024 unfolded as a remarkably “dense” period for environmental news, showcasing pivotal developments that underscore a heightened focus on sustainability. Notable highlights include the injection of 127 million Euros into a Greek company for hydrogen projects, the commencement of mass production of electric buses destined for Athens and Thessaloniki in China, and a substantial investment program exceeding 1 billion Euros aimed at fortifying Greece’s energy network. These headlines collectively affirm that the environmental agenda has firmly taken root.

However, the most important development was the recent approval by the European Council of the two final pillars of the Fit for 55 package of legislative measures. We remind you that the name “Fit for 55” refers to the European Union’s goal of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.

This approval marks a crucial juncture, as the European Union now possesses legally binding climate targets extending across key economic sectors. The phase-out of polluting vehicles is set in motion, accompanied by strengthened infrastructures supporting the charging and utilization of alternative fuels in road, air, and sea transport. Undoubtedly, substantial efforts lie ahead, considering the looming deadline of 2030, which is merely six years away!
