OMONIA TRANS. A family business

In the dynamic landscape of business, a family enterprise stands as a steadfast and enduring presence. This stability is no coincidence. Rooted in values and principles passed down through generations, a family business possesses a resolute sense of purpose that transcends mere financial objectives.

The value of a family business is not merely anecdotal; it is quantifiable. Statistics reveal that family businesses make up a significant portion of enterprises across the European Union, ranging from 60% to 90%. Moreover, recent research conducted by the National Center for Social Research of Greece indicates that 49% of respondents perceive family businesses as resilient entities, particularly during times of crisis.

OMONIA TRANS proudly identifies as a family business, cherishing this distinction for several reasons. Not only does the seamless collaboration between the first and second generations, represented by Head of Sales Dimitra Patsiotis and Head of European Network Expansion Konstantinos Patsiotis, emphasize its familial roots, but it also underscores the transmission of the company’s core philosophy and values to all employees.

We support abused women in practice

The alarming increase in incidents of violence against women cannot leave a company founded by a woman indifferent. For this reason, OMONIA TRANS is among the first Greek companies to support a very important action.

Specifically, we proudly announce our involvement in the “Independent Strong Free” support program for abused women, spearheaded by the Public Employment Service (DYPA) in collaboration with the Ministries of Labor and Social Security, Social Cohesion and Family, and Citizen Protection.

As part of this program, OMONIA TRANS is extending employment opportunities to women who have endured gender-based and domestic violence, seeking professional rehabilitation. By welcoming these women into our workforce, we aim to provide more than just a job. We offer a supportive environment where they can rebuild their confidence and reclaim their independence, enveloped in the warmth and solidarity of our OMONIA TRANS team.

Pandemic and geopolitical crisis. The “bill” has arrived

As the immediate challenges posed by the pandemic and the geopolitical crisis in Ukraine begin to diminish, attention is turning to the long-term implications for the transport and logistics industry. Initial conclusions and analyses are now emerging, shedding light on the lasting effects.

A study conducted by the Logistics Committee of the Greek-German Chamber of Commerce offers revealing insights. It highlights significant impacts, with the pandemic and war resulting in a 12% increase in warehouse rents, a 14% rise in operating costs, and a 9% hike in payroll and warehouse specialties expenses.

Furthermore, there has been a notable shortage of drivers, particularly from Eastern European countries that traditionally served as a talent pool for the profession. Finally, there have been shifts in professionals’ habits, with many drivers now showing a preference for shorter routes, such as courier services and urban deliveries, over long-haul journeys.
